Patek Philippe Perpetual Retrograde 36mm Rose Gold 5059r-001 The perpetual calendar wristwatch 5059 possesses an intriguing complication: retrograde date display. The date is indicated by a hand progressing along the 240-degree arc located with the hour-scale between 8 & 4 o'clock. Around midnight on the last day of each month, be it the 28th, 29th, 30th, or 31st, the hand automatically jumps back to the numeral 1. This fly-back mechanism uses a ratchet wheel to keep the hand accurately positioned at the exact date numeral. Another exclusive feature: the hand is uncoupled from the retrograde mechanism as it swings back to the 1st of the month and then is instantly stabilized to prevent it from rebounding to the 2nd or 3rd position on the scale. The 5059 is one of the very few perpetual calendar watches with a central sweep second hand. Caliber 315 S QR Geneva Seal Hallmarked.
