To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Chronometre a Resonance collection, the horological company F.P.Journe has released a new edition of the famous timepiece.
A major accomplishment in the world of horology, the new Chronometre a Resonance unique watch boasts an unprecedented accuracy, acquired due to utilizing the natural resonance phenomenon. It was in 1840, when French watchmaker Antide Janvier for the first time applied the resonance phenomenon in the horological science. Having noticed that these waves produced negative effects on clocks, the master carried out his own research as to how to use them in the operating of regulators. In 2004, F.P.Journe was proud to unveil the second version of the Chronometre a Resonance timekeeper. The hallmark feature of this creation was its remarkable movement, for the first time crafted from 18K rose gold. The 2010 year edition of the model is featured in two versions. The first interpretation employs a platinum case, complimented by a white gold dial. The second variation is red gold from top to toe. The case of the new Chronometre a Resonance watch measures 40 mm in diameter and is 9 mm thick. The model is built to be water-resistant up to 30 meters. Housed in the case is an 18K gold dial, which demonstrates two counters, graced with silver guilloche motif. The sub-dial at 9 o’clock offers a time indication of 24 hours. The counter at 3 o’clock, meanwhile, displays the local time. Keeping them secured to the dial are polished steel rings, a patent by F.P.Journe. The functions of hours, minutes and seconds, complimented by that of power reserve, are animated by a hand-wound mechanical movement, rendered in 18K rose gold. Graced with haute horlogerie finish, it oscillates at the rate of 21,600 variations per hour and provides a 40-hour power reserve.
